China Beach

Location 

At the east end of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail you’ll find the vehicle accessible China Beach Campground and the China Beach day-use area. The campground is located in a forested area with open understory, about 1 km east of the China Beach day-use area and the Juan de Fuca East (China Beach) Trailhead. Trails connect the campground to China Beach and the adjacent smaller Second Beach, located east of the larger China Beach day-use. Outdoor Activities

Hiking
A scenic 1 km trail leads from the parking lot through mature forest to the beach. A large viewing deck offers views of the beach and Juan de Fuca Strait. This is an easy to moderate, fairly steep trail

Day Use Activities
The fine sand beach is ideal for picnicking, sandcastle building, wading and relaxing. Pack a lunch and your drinking water and please remember that fires are not permitted on the beach.
Take a short walk to the western end of the beach to the waterfall or wander at length to the east. It is possible to walk along the beach between China Beach and Second Beach. Please respect the delicate vegetation and natural and cultural features of this park. In the spring and fall, look for the magnificent grey whale offshore as it travels along its migratory route. As many as 17,000 of these mammoth creatures travel down the coast throughout the migration period; some, in fact, spend the summer off the shores of Vancouver Island. Dogs
Dogs must always be on the leash and are permitted only in designated areas. Look for the regulations on the information shelters for the specific park rules for pet areas.
Parking
There is a parking charge of $3.00 for an entire day. Parking is only allowed in designated areas.

Camping

Drive-in campsites
There are 75 drive-in campsites available at this campground. Campsite reservations are accepted and first-come, first-served sites are also available. Some facilities are wheelchair accessible; pit toilets and water taps are located throughout the campground. There are no showers facilities and no sani-station/dump facilities at this park. Closest sani-station located at French Beach Provincial Park. No cycling on park trails; cycling is permitted on the campground road network only.

Prices and Seasons
The prices for camping are seasonally adjusted to the provision of services . During the peak season camping fees are $16.00 per night and there is a second vehicle charge of $8.00 .  Additional sleeping units are permitted in an occupied campsite but there is a camping fee charge of $16.00. (Cash only please.)
There is no winter camping at China Beach. Shoulder season is May 15 to June 15 and after Labour Day to September 15 where the rate is $16.00 and seniors pay $8.00 per night. Peak season is June 16 to Labour Day where the rate is $16.00 and seniors pay $16.00 per night. Second vehicle charges are $8.00 per night with a campsite.
BC seniors over 65 must provide a BC gold card to pay half price prior to June 15th and after Labour Day. During the peak season seniors pay full price.
Parking is $3.00 a day in the day use lots.

Fires
Campfires are allowed in designated fire rings provided. During a fire ban fires are not allowed anywhere in the park. Firewood is available to visitors at a cost of
$7.00 per bundle or $18.00 for 3 bundles.As the park is an ecological reserve it is illegal to burn wood or material from the forest.
