Hague Lake (Cortes)

Location

This park is found on the west side of Cortes Island and is reached by car ferry from Campbell River via Quadra Island. Ferry service is offered by BC Ferries; sailing times are approximately 15 minutes from Campbell River to Quadra Island, and 45 minutes from Quadra to Cortes. The park can be reached via Seaford Road on Cortes Island. The park can also be reached by private boat. These boats can moor at the adjacent federal government wharf if space is permitting.

Outdoor Activities

Recreational opportunities include fresh water swimming in Hague Lake and sunbathing on the beaches, marine wildlife viewing in Mansons Lagoon of Manson's Landing. Camping is not permitted at this park, but visitors can camp at nearby Smelt Bay Provincial Park.  The park offers hiking and walking trails as well as enjoyable beach walks. A short trail connects the sand spit at Mansons Lagoon to the local school 1 km away. A steeper short trail runs from Hague Lake around the perimeter of the lagoon to the sand spit (approximately 1 km).

Picnicking

This park has two picnic areas. The Hague Lake picnic area has a pit toilet, information shelter, sandy beach and a small parking area and the Mansons Lagoon picnic area has picnic tables, 1 pit toilet, a sandy spit and a parking lot. The parking lot also serves the federal wharf. Both areas can be accessed from Seaford Road on Cortes Island. There is a 1km long trail that links the two picnic areas.

Fires

Campfires are not permitted at this park.

Nearby Parks

Hague Lake is one of two day use parks that are connected to Smelt Bay Provincial Park and campground. Also visit neaby Manson's Landing.
