Loveland Bay

 

Location
Loveland Bay is located on Hwy 28, 4 km west of Campbell River . Turnoff to Elk Falls viewpoint and Loveland Bay . Drive past Elk Falls and over the dam, and then take the first road on the left. Follow the gravel road 12 km to Loveland Bay .

Note: The 12km road to this park is an active logging road. Chances are good that visitors will encounter logging trucks while driving this road. Remember that logging trucks have the right of way at all times. Be cautious and yield to logging trucks using pullouts whenever possible.

Outdoor Activities
Loveland Bay may be a small Provincial Park but it provides visitors with a truly intimate camping experience on the shore of beautiful Campbell Lake .

While staying in the park you can spend the day water-skiing, fishing, swimming canoeing or kayaking. Some visitors prefer to just lie on the beach and soak up the sun near the pristine waters.
There are no day-use facilities at this park .

Camping
Each of the 31 non-serviced campsites are located right next to Campbell lake. There are two water pumps and pit toilets located throughout the campground. The campground is reservable although there are some first come, first serve sites for campers with no reservation.
There are two Group Campsites at Loveland Bay . One site holds 10 units while the other site holds 6 units.  Reservations can be made by contacting Discover Camping www.discovercamping.ca after January 2, 2011.

Prices and Seasons

The prices for camping are seasonally adjusted to the provision of services. During the peak season camping fees are $16.00 per night and there is a second vehicle charge of $8.00.  Additional sleeping units are permitted in an occupied campsite but there is a camping fee charge of $16.00. There is no winter camping at this park. Shoulder season is May 15 to June 15 and after Labour Day to September 30 where the rate is $16.00 and seniors pay $8.00 per night.  Peak season is June 16 to Labour Day where the rate is $16.00 and seniors pay $16.00 per night. Second vehicle charges are $8.00 per night with a campsite.

BC seniors over 65 must provide a BC gold card to pay half price prior to June 15th and after Labour Day. During the peak season seniors pay full price.

Fires
Campfires are allowed in designated fire rings provided that a fire ban is not in effect. Firewood is provided to visitors and the cost is $7.00 per bundle or $18.00 for 3 bundles. It is illegal to burn wood or material from the forest because it is destructive and damages the protected ecosystems within the park.
