Location
Maquinna Marine Provincial Park is located in the northwestern part of Clayoquot Sound on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The park is found between the Hesquiat Peninsula and Flores Island and is accessible by boat or float plane from Tofino, Ucluelet, Hot Springs Cove, Tahsis and Gold River. Outdoor Activites Maquinna Park is world renowned for its natural hot spring pools. A 2-km boardwalk trail leads from the dock to the hot springs. These pools are approximately 50 degrees Celsius. Pregnant women, people with heart conditions and small children should limit their exposure to the hot water. During winter high tides, use of the pools should be avoided because of wave action and presence of large woody debris. The sensitive ecosystem should be respected and use of glass containers, soap, candles, campfires or other destructive things is forbidden. Also, not only is it illegal but it is dangerous to consume alcohol in the hotsprings. Picnicking There is a nice grassy area near the dock on which to rest or picnic. The composting toilet is also located here. Camping There are no campsites at this park. There is a private campground, operated by the Hesquiat First Nation located north of the government dock. Prices There is a $3.00 per person per day user fee Fires Campfires are NOT PERMITTED where the hot springs are located.
